YEOVIL COLLEGE CROWNED HOCKEY CHAMPIONS
Yeovil College has been crowned Somerset Colleges’ Men’s Indoor Hockey Champions after beating 5 other colleges at a recent tournament.
The Yeovil College team, who were recently runners up at the South West Colleges Hockey Tournament, showed their strength by completely dominating the play.
The team were Lewis Ringrow (17), Mike Gibson (18), Jack Bartlett (17), Ben Casey (18), Matt Ringrow (19), Will Ireland (17), Matt Haskett (18) and Josh Butt (19). They lifted the trophy following wins in all of their games.
There were ‘Man of the Match’ performances from Matt Haskett, Mike Gibson and Lewis Ringrow.
Matt Haskett was the team’s top goal scorer, scoring half of Yeovil’s goals. In total, 14 goals were scored for Yeovil College, while only one was scored against in all 5 matches.
Team coach Kate Paul said “All the players played extremely well and achieved an amazing result. In four out of five games, the opposition failed to score, which shows how much Yeovil dominated the games and the high standard of Hockey they played. Well done to the team. ”
Following this win, Yeovil College will shortly be competing in the final of the Somerset County Schools State Cup, due to take place at Taunton Vale later this month.
