Milford Hall Development

The project to rebuild Milford Hall will provide a versatile community centre for use by both residents and agencies providing services. Further enhancements are planned for the surrounding green space and facilities. Milford residents highlighted the need to improve to the hall and its surroundings, as a priority during the Planning for Real® consultations of 2007.

The development will include:

  • the demolition of the prefabricated section of Milford Hall
  • the building of a new multi purpose community hall
  • the upgrade of remaining facilities
  • the creation of new footpaths and a car park
  • landscaping and improved security at the entrance of Milford Park

Benefits will be:

  • a larger hall allowing better facilities for sports and community activities
  • improved disabled access, lighting and internal facilities
  • the provision of a local and accessible base from which agencies can work to promote health and well being of the local community
  • improved security features to deter antisocial behaviour

Funding for this project has been raised through a partnership of South Somerset District Council, Yeovil Vision, Yeovil Town Council, South West Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership, and Yarlington Housing Group. There have also been contributions from the local County Councillor and the Well-being of Yeovil Community Association.

LeftNatalie Ross, SSDC Community Development Officer says, "it’s fantastic that we now have all the funding in place to be able to redevelop this important community facility. During the Planning For Real® consultation residents expressed a desire to see the facility improved and expanded so that more activities could take place in the area, I am delighted that so many agencies and groups are now working together to make this happen for the community." Right
