The Market Street Area is situated in a high profile location and is important to the delivery of the Yeovil Vision.
The Market Street Area Development Brief was produced and approved by South Somerset District Council in June 2007.
The Brief will guide future development and inform the preparation of the proposed Yeovil Area Action Plan within the Local Development Framework.
In preparing the Brief there were two public consultation workshops and regular meetings with a Landowners Forum.

In March 2008 plans for the development of the Cattle Market site were unveiled at a Public Exhibition by Rok Development and their retained Yeovil based architects Boon Brown.

An application for outline planning permission is expected to be submitted in May / June.
This mixed-use development will revitalise an important town centre site by providing:
- improved urban design providing character, and quality public spaces
- improved accessibility and connectivity between the Market Street Area, Town Centre and areas north of Reckleford.
