Yeovil Sports Zone

The Yeovil Sports Zone project has been initiated to meet the current and future sporting and recreational requirements of residents.  It is an exciting project, which will inspire and enable more young people to take part in active leisure and sport.

Current plans include a competition swimming pool and a leisure pool, an eight-badminton court sized sports hall, indoor tennis centre, a climbing wall and a large fitness studio.

Following a Full District Council meeting Jan 2009, further work will be done to identify a suitable location for the Sports Zone. This follows a decision by the District Council not to progress an outline planning application for the project at the Yeovil Recreation Ground. More information can be found on the SSDC website.

The Sports Zone development aims to:

  • provide all residents with first class leisure and sporting facilities
  • inspire young people to achieve their sporting potential
  • promote healthy living and lifestyle
