Yeovil’s award winning “Green Flag Country Park is a unique asset and offers first class public access and amenity, particularly at Ninesprings and Penn Hill.
The potential for creating improved linkage between the Town and Yeovil Country Park is regarded as a major opportunity within the context of Yeovil Vision.
To capture this potential so that the town can take better advantage of its spectacular landscape setting, a broad pedestrian friendly “Promenade” space is proposed along the southern boundary of the Country Park.
The first section of this Promenade will be built as part of the Foundry House / Mill Lane development.
Sitting on the cycleway through Yeovil Country Park, with great links to Yeovil town, the new multipurpose building including a volunteer space, a countryside workshop and a superb family and dog friendly café, offering a range of products in a lovely setting.
It is hoped that the new centre will help more people explore Yeovil Country Park and also provide greater information to people who already enjoy its facilities. The venue will also be used as an education and information centre for the park, and is the new base for the countryside ranger team and park volunteers.
The Yeovil Country Park:
- Provides a valuable amenity and open space in close proximity to the town centre
- Is accessible by public transport.
- Contributes to promoting a healthy lifestyle
